Royal Oak Outdoor Art Fair 2010
July 10th & July 11th
From a vendor perspective there is nothing better than being able to drive one’s vehicle right to your booth space to unload and pack up! The second best thing is to have tons of room in back and on the sides of the booth. Now the ideal show includes those two elements and lots of customers who are actually buying art and walking around with packages and smiles! This was the case at Royal Oak. All three very goods things from a vendor perspective were in ample supply.
Not that there aren’t plenty of exceptions to this rule, but as rule men do not buy my work. One of the first people to walk into the booth was a middle aged+ man in western wear with a turquoise necklace. He walked right over to this 11 x 14 print of a rose that I call Garden Pink. I did not understand at first but he repeated that he wanted to buy it off the wall. Fine by me. The last sale of the day was to a young man in his early 30‘s who stated emphatically that he had just the spot for the print he picked.
It was a good show. I’ll probably go back next year.
